A contiguous forest tract of ten acres or more, excluding the
home site, may be eligible for a reduction in taxable value of
50% if the tract qualifies for the Forestry program.
Eligibility is based on several factors, including agreement
to manage the forest resource according to a stewardship plan
prepared by a professional forester, maintenance of forest boundaries
and the land may not be part of the Current Agricultural Use Value
program.
The application process is handled by the Ohio Division of Forestry
and includes a site visit, development of a stewardship plan,
formal agreement and a filing fee of $50.00.
Once the land has been certified, it is eligible for the
50% reduction in value, which thereby reduces the amount of taxes
owed. For additional information on the program contact the County
Auditor's Real Estate Office at 937-225-4326.
